BLADE 3 stabs a few geeks in the heart and they enjoyed every second of it!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a couple of geeks who got to see BLADE TRINITY early and had a helluva time from the sound of things. The first review comes from the Arclight screening with David Goyer in attendance. I briefly met Goyer at SXSW when he was there with his first directorial effort, the overlooked ZIGZAG and he was as cool and nice in person as the below fellow geek claims. He's one of the good guys in the biz and it's really cool he's got his hand in so many great properties, watching the geek's back as it were.

I got into a screening tonight at the Arclight of "Blade:Trinity", with David Goyer in attendance afterwards for Q&A.

I won't say much about the film, since you have already run a bunch of reviews. But I will say that it is fantastic. The movie is a total blast, well written and well directed. More humor and action than the previous entries in the series. It keeps with the filmmakers hope that each film would have a different feel.

While the differences are not as obvious as "Blade 2", the film has its own distinct tone. The breakout stars are of course Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds and Triple H, as well as an enjoyable performance by Parker Posey.

I got a chance to ask David Goyer if he found doing Blade more fulfilling than Batman, or vice versa. He said the pressure was more intense with Batman. He said that Warner Bros. had calculated that a successful Batman film could bring them a profit of (once you add in all the merchandise, ancillary rights, etc.) 3 TO 4 BILLION DOLLARS.

He also said that Warner Bros. main mission has become getting the Batman and Superman franchises back on track. Hmmm...wonder why?

With Blade, Goyer said that there weren't as many worries about how the history of the character was handled, so it made it a little easier to work with. After the show, I got to shake his hand and thank him for the movie. He was very nice, which was great. It's always cool to see someone treat the fans with respect. But then, David Goyer is one of us. A kid who grew up like we did, then got the chance to dream out loud in a larger than life playground, just trying to make the kinds of movies that he, and other fans, would like to watch.

Bottom line: I loved the movie, get you ass to the theatre to see it next week.

Hey, I also won a DVD in the trivia contest...but it was "Freddy Vs. Jason"....um....hooray?

Sweet... Here's another look at the flick from Phoenix! I'm seeing BLADE 3 tomorrow night and if it's even half as fun as what I've been hearing then I'll be a happy vamp fan!!!

Howdy Harry and Crew

Hello wise sages of film, I just saw an advance screening of Blade:Trinity tonight at AMC Arizona Center in downtown Phoenix and I'd like to give my 2 cents on the pic. Now I'm not going to give everyone a plot summary like everyone else usually does (partially because it's late and im a tad drunk)just because everyone who knows about this movie already has heard it a bunch of times. So I'm just going to point out the good and the bad.

Good

-Loved the way the vampires burnt to a crisp when killed.

-Hannibal King kicked ass, though sometimes it sounded too Van Wilderish. But over all Reynolds impressed me with physical presence on camera as well as his humor.

-CGI looks as if they actually spent some time on it, rather than just the typical "rushed" look that most films seem to have.

-The weapons and gagetry were cool. Often I kept on repeating Jack Nicolson's famous line in Batman "Where does he get those wonderful toys..."

Bad

-Wesley Snipes didnt have as many lines as I thought he'd have. Maybe he pissed of Goyer one too many times.

-Dracula in demon form=bad mofo, Dracula in the "Drake" form= bad Euro Trash

-Parker Posey is extremely annoying, she looked like a reject from Hot Topic.

Overall a great film. Some minor nitpicks but it's a nice way to end the Blade franchise on a high note. Good job by Goyer, hopefully the man gets more work in Hollywood. If you use this, dub me as Brendor!

One other note, I'll be interviewing David Goyer tomorrow morning on my radio show (sorry for being shameless)at 10am on the Blaze 1260. It's ASU's college radio station. You can listen online at www.theblaze1260.com
