Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
I gotta say, this particular mix of talent excites me. Normally, I wouldn’t be interested in another take on SNOW WHITE, especially not from Disney. I mean, they already did it right once. Why go back to that well? When you announce that Michael Chabon, the big-brained author of WONDER BOYS and THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER & CLAY, is going to be writing a martial arts spin on the story with Yuen Wo Ping signed to direct, though... well, that gets my attention.
YOU CAN READ THE STORY HERE!!
As the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER puts it, “SNOW AND THE SEVEN will be set in 1880s British colonial China and will have fantasy and martial arts elements, with the ‘seven’ being Shaolin monks. The story also will hearken back to aspects of the original Grimm Brothers' fairy tale.”
Good stuff, and we’ll definitely keep our eyes on this one as it develops...
After I posted this story, this e-mail came in:
Hey,
I saw your story about SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN today, and I thought I'd share something I heard a long time ago.
At Dragon*Con 2003, Michael Jai White was promoting KILL BILL, and he mentioned that Yuen Wo-Ping had been very impressed with his martial arts skills. As a result, he was asked to be in SNOW WHITE. At the time, I believe it was called SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN SHAOLIN, but I could be wrong.

I loved Jai White's scene in KILL BILL VOL. 2, and I hope this is true. That would be a blast. Thanks, man!
"Moriarty" out.
