Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
These are going to be tricky movies to make. No question about it. I am very fond of the novels, having just read them this spring, but they aren’t what I would call “easy” adaptations. When Sam Mendes and Tom Stoppard were the rumored creative team, it seemed like New Line was aiming for a certain sort of Oscar-bait fantasy film, but handing over the franchise to Chris Weitz was one of those decisions that really only makes sense if you’ve heard Chris Weitz talk about what he plans to do with the films, I would guess. He and his brother are obviously fantasy fans, having also optioned the ELRIC OF MELNIBONE novels for Universal, but what specifically is Chris going to do to bring these challenging metaphysical fantasy stories to life?
Well, here are your first answers:
Hey there. Can't believe you havent posted this yet, (or if you have Ican't find it), heres the interview, taken from the good people at bridgetothestars.net.
(if you use this call me Sparky.)
Now, I’m going to sit down with Chris as well, so after you read that interview, if you’ve got more questions, send them to me and make sure you put HIS DARK MATERIALS in the e-mail header so I’m armed for bear when I go in to talk to him. In the meantime, enjoy a great interview.
"Moriarty" out.
