Yes! Warner's pulls out, SONY Gets MGM!

Hey folks, Harry here... Well, the boy who cried wolf is back to eat crow, but with a smile on my face. The MGM / Warner deal was basically assumed by all involved to be a done deal when I reported it, but over the weekend SONY raised it's offer, and Warner's wouldn't. SO - Sony is getting the Lion... and frankly, this is a good thing in my mind.

Years ago, Sony bought MGM's backlot in Culver City, and they've really done wonders with it. However, it left MGM without its lots, and to a degree, separated from the grandeur that it once was. Now Sony has MGM and it's lot, so once again the Lion's roar can be heard among the soundstages that held yellow bricks and munchkins! How all of this will affect MGM's current slate, we'll stay tuned to, but I much prefer this.
