Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was hoping CELLULAR wouldn't be JUST a gimmick movie and it seems like it's got some smart curveballs thrown in listening to this review. I missed the sneak a couple of days ago, so I'm gonna have to catch it this weekend if I see more reviews like this one. Enjoy!!!
Hey Harry, this is Dark Vengeance. Just got back from a sneak peek of Cellular and decided to write a quick review.
Cellular is a surprise hit. I went into the movie expecting a cheap gimmick. Boy was I mistaken. Kim Basinger plays the kidnapped victim, who has to use a smashed phone to call for help. She manages to reach Chris Evans, and although skeptical, convinces him of her plight. The catch is she has no idea why she has been kidnapped, she’s not wealthy, she’s a biology teacher, and her husband a realtor. To tell you the reason of the kidnapping would ruin the movie. Meanwhile Chris Evans is forced to run a gauntlet, trying to rescue her and her family. Now one may ask why doesn’t he just go to the police like any normal person would?
Well he does but the writers cleverly, think up a situation where he still has to remain in the picture. Naturally a movie about a cellphone would not be complete without dealing with the loss of signal, the low battery, going through a tunnel, and picking up someone else’s conversation.
Although many people might be skeptical about this film, don’t. The trailer did not do this film justice. I would definitely go see this movie again, and take as many people as I can.
Dark Vengeance
