Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little tidbit about the upcoming film adaptation of Joseph Conrad's first book, ALMAYER'S FOLLY. Looks to be tackled by very interesting people (I especially like seeing Sharrif taking roles again), but I must confess a total ignorance to most of Conrad's work and of the director U-Wei bin Haji Saari. Check the below for the good bits!
Hey Harry,
I don't know if you've heard this yet but Harvey Keitel is going to be involved in an adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel Almayer's Folly. I just interviewed the person who is going to direct the movie which is the Malaysian director U-Wei bin Haji Saari (if you're familiar with asian cinema you might know some of his movies, "Kaki Bakar"(The Arsonist) and "Jhogoh" (The Champion), and he confirmed that Harvey Keitel will be playing the role of Almayer.
The film is being produced together with Golden Globe Award Winner LeBrocquy-FraserProductions and according to a press release their getting some pretty godd crew members as well including production designer Desmond Crowe (UK) (Band of Brothers) and director of photography Alain Choquart (France) (Boesman, Lena and Captain Conan).
The casts will be a mixture of international South East Asian talents and I heard their also trying to get Omar Sharrif to sign up as well.
Filming is going to done over in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Well I hope you find this useful. Cheers and thanks for the great news your site gives.
