Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Cheap shot? Maybe. But Michael Keaton is one of those frustrating guys who vanished for no obvious reason. He was a mainstay of the mainstream all through the ‘80s, and the guy was fucking Batman. How does someone like that just vanish?
More importantly, how’s his new film?
Hey Harry,
So last night I went to the screening of "White Noise" starring Michael Keaton. Now given, the title "white noise" dosn't make me jump out of my seat excited to see it. But I was very interested to see Michael Keaton in another role.
After waiting in a huge line we finally got in and the movie started almost right away. "White Noise" or EVP stands for "Electronic Voice Phenomenon". Michael Keaton and his wife are in deep love. His wife gets in a car accident and dies. Keaton tries to deal with the loss by getting on with his life. He is approached by a man (Ian McNeice) who says that his wife has been contacting him and has a message for Keaton. Keaton dosn't believe him but takes his buisness card. After a couple months the pain is unbearable and he contacts Ian. Ian shows Keaton that his dead wife has been contacting him through the static on the tv. This is also where Deborah Unger is introduced, she is a woman who also has been visiting Ian because her fiancé died.
Basically the story goes on from here just as you would expect after hearing what has happend so far. The dead wife continues to give Keaton visions through the tv of people that havn't died yet but that are going to. He goes and tries to help them or save them. But, by doing this he is messing with things that are not supposed to be messed with and the evil spirits of the spirit world show up in the visions warning Keaton to stop. Of course he continues and winds up with more then he wanted.
Overall it was pretty good. A couple concepts were different than the normal run of the mill supernatural thriller. A bit of a twist at the end( but not much). Some scary moments that were pretty far apart, but this worked by keeping you tense in between. Michael Keaton pulled it off but wasn't spectacular. And Deborah Unger plays the same part that she plays in every movie.
So have fun with this movie, good to see Michael Keaton again.
P.S. Napoleon Dynamite is the funniest movie I have ever seen!!
"I could make that much in like five seconds!"
Carnage
I still know very little about this film, even after this review. A quick peek at the IMDb reveals that it’s a Canadian picture, and doesn’t seem to have an American distributor lined up yet. Also, it is not based on the Don DeLillo novel, so if you’re a fan of the book, relax. Hollywood hasn’t ballsed it up. Yet.
"Moriarty" out.
