A spy gets a peek at the set of ZATHURA and is forbidden to use the 'J' word!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a tiny peek into what's going on with Jon Favreau's ZATHURA. We've gotten some preproduction art from this film leaked out to us (see the first here and the second here!), which is apparently driving the big-wigs crazy according to my source, and so far it looks like a fun kid's flick. I can also confirm, thanks to my source, that the filmmakers are trying to keep this film as far removed from JUMANJI as they can. Apparently the original book is kind of a "sequel in spirit," but aside from the board game element has nothing to do tonally or story-wise with JUMANJI. At least that's what I've gathered from the people who have emailed me about it. Check it out!

Hi Harry,

First of all, thanks for posting my review of "Home On The Range" a while back.

I took the Sony Pictures Studio tour today before attending a taping of Wheel Of Fortune. While on the lot we got a glimpse into the studio housing some of the sets for "Zathura".

It was really cool. The giant house set (at least one floor of the house) was built on an enormous gimble. It looks like they are really going to shake the hell out of the place for whatever scenes they are planning. Judging from that image you posted a while back I'm sure there are going to be lots of occasions to shake the house!

Anyway, the interesting tidbit was the fact that the tour guide told us we she wasn't allowed to mention "The J Name" (JUMANJI) when describing the movie to guests on the tour. I couldn't understand why, except maybe to speculate that Favreau doesn't want it to be thought of as a sort of "Jumanji 2"?!

Hope this is interesting enough for ya,

MeBurma
