Mission Impossible 2 stuff!!!

As Variety reported, Michael Tolkin is working on Mission Impossible 2, which looks to be Cruise's next project after "Eyes Wide Shut" and a much-needed vacation. Cruise and Paula Wagner are to produce the film, which will be directed by Oliver "I need a hit NOW" Stone, reportedly because he needs money to finance a project about Martin Luther King Jr. that would be the last in a trilogy of 60's heroes. Too bad those marketing whizzes that spent a buck fifty advertising U-TURN don't have to produce eh? My spy, known only as anonymous (no he/she didn't write Primary Colors) won't let me talk about plot much -- er, at all -- but some of it takes place in China. Tolkin is rewriting David Marconi's script, which I haven't read, but its reputation is reportedly pretty weak. I also have heard that it will take place in the next Millenium (aka after 2001) though this hasn't been firmed up yet.
