Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Sort of, anyway. There are a lot of rumors flying about this one right now. I’ve heard they’re pulling the plug. I’ve heard they’re pushing it back. I’ve heard JJ Abrams mentioned as a possible director. I’ve heard Brett Ratner mentioned. I’ve even heard Frank Darabont mentioned, which is an inspired choice based on how hard he’s been working on the script for the last few months. It’s a totally different type of film than he’s made before, but if he can write it, I’m sure he can shoot it. Which raises the question... just what exactly is he writing?
Hey Harry.
Frank Darabont spoke to Empire about M:I-3.
"This is going into a very character-driven and gritty — much grittier than the first two — kind of place. Dealing in a more immediately graspable and relevant reality, globally speaking. It's much more in line with certain things that are going on in the headlines and if I said any more than that I think Tom might have me killed...I think the third is going to just kick the ass of the first two."
Gritty? Sounds like a job for Joe Carnahan. Or David Fincher.
Brett Ratner? Oh wait, he did RED DRAGON so that shows he can do gritty right?? >sarcasm<
With Brett Ratner eyeing the third Mission, it looks like it's going to be as good as the script is.....so we're rooting for you, Frank!

Thanks, “toonboy.” Nice work by EMPIRE, too. I’d love to know more about this one, and time really does seem to running out for Paramount to make a choice about who they’re sending on this particular mission. Here’s hoping it’s a great choice.
"Moriarty" out.
