Ok folks, here's a sequel that for a long time I've been thinking was completely unnecessary, until I heard this RUMOR. I love WAR GAMES, it's one of those films... scratch that. It was the first thing that made me want a computer. I wanted to hack into my school's computer and change my grades. I wanted to use the computer to reduce my phone bills. I wanted to hack into ILM and see early stuff. I wanted to be a hacker, however I grew out of the idea, but I never forgot WAR GAMES. Personally I feel it's a pivotal film to my generation, along the lines of STAR WARS, TRON, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, POLTERGEIST, GREASE, TERMINATOR, ANIMAL HOUSE, BLUES BROTHERS, etc... It's the film that made Matthew Broderick part of my world. And about 5 months ago or so, I began hearing rumors that this project had movement. Well, if the following is true, then not only is it moving forward, but it's got a possibly cool excuse for a sequel. I'm all giddy about this. Talk Back and let's hear what you think....
Well Harry, I have been reading your site for over two years but never
before have I written you about a scoop or some big time movie being
filmed where I live, which , by the way is beautiful Monterrey, Mexico
(about 6hrs drive from Austin).
Well, ther is no big time movie being filmed here, in fact there is no
movie being filmed here at all. But my brother who is taking a film
course in New York Film School told me something that made the hairs on
the back of my neck rise.
He has a teacher who claims to be a personal friend of Matthew Broderick
and Mr. Broderick told this guy that the day after he finishes shooting
Gadget he'll begin filming the sequel to Wargames which deals with the
year 2000 computer glitch. That's all I know about this movie and sure
hope you can find out more with your spies.
I would really love to see this movie, back in my Commodore 64 days,
when I knew nothing about BASIC, and or disk drives etc, etc, etc. This
movie kept me typing JOSHUA waiting for the C-64 to do something (I was
only 12 and the damn machine only displayed READY and SYNTAX ERROR).
Any way I truly hope you can find more info on this. I'm betting that if
it is tru it will be realeased Christmas 99, perfect timing for the Y2K
theme.
If you decide to post this call me Tequila Shot
