Father Geek here in Austin with some info from SANTISTA down in Brasil on the upcoming doco on the GREAT PELE, "Pelé Eternamente"...
Hi there father geek
SANTISTA here with bad news on the "Pelé Forever" documentary... at least for international audiences!
I'm writing because you're probably the only one on the AICN staff who has seen the man play. Well, that's if you ever had any interest in soccer at all... well, you may also have seen him in that movie with Michael Caine and Stallone, I think it's called "Victory" in English...
Any way, they are patching up a VERY EXPENSIVE documentary called "Pelé Eternamente", "Pelé Forever" in English.
Well, it seems they decided to cut 15 minutes off the international version, to be released up there and overseas January or February next year.
Now, these barbarian fools are going to cut scenes about Pelé's business and love affairs, deemed "uninteresting" to international audiences.
I don't care if they are cutting these because he still has partners abroad or if they are trying release an extremely uplifting movie in order to GET more deals!! But I always thought that a documentary movie should show all sides of the story. By the way, it's widely know here in Brasil that Pelé was involved with crooked deals and that he had several kids outside his marriage. These 15 minutes they are cutting from you are the first time he ever talked about these issues in public!
Call me SANTISTA if you use this!
