Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some good news! Looks like Dreamworks has delayed THE TALISMAN (based on the King/Straub book) in order to give new director Ed Zwick a chance to make a pass on the screenplay, which if you remember my long rants over the last few weeks was in dire need of a touch up. I got this info from the Vancouver based Hollywood North Report... here's what they said along with a link back to my original article on the movie:
When Edward Zwick signed on as the new Director of The Talisman two weeks
ago it seemed like the July 26th start date at Vancouver Film Studios would
stand but we can now confirm that filming has been pushed back to September
13th thru December 7th 2004 still at VFS of course. We've heard from a
reliable source that the delay in filming is said to be because of the
rewrite Zwick is currently doing on the script. (read Quint at AICN tear the original Ehren Kruger script to shreds and predict the rewrite)
I love this book and though I've ranted and screamed about this project for the last month or so, it's only because I love the material and want to see it turned into the kick ass movie it can and should be. I really like Ed Zwick in the director's chair and I'm relieved Zwick is taking a little bit of time to make sure the script is right. Believe you me, folks... I'll be watching this project like a hawk!
