Ahoy, squirts. Quint here with some news on the production of the adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub's THE TALISMAN. It looks like the film lenses up in Canada in July and I tell you... I'm very, very worried about this project. Ehren Kruger's script was a joke (read me tearing it apart here). I know he was rewritten Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro, but judging by the crap that Kruger spewed out, they had a mountain of work to do to make the film not a huge bastardization of the novel, yet it seems Dreamworks is rushing into making this film.
Unless Miro and Bernard were able to weave a bunch of magic in their rewrite, there are going to be a lot of pissed off fans out there, myself included. If you have a copy of their rewrite, drop me an email. I'd like to know one way or the other if this is going to go down as one of the biggest wasted opportunities in recent cinema. This could be a great film, but in the words of Luke, Han and Leia, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Just to let you know, THE TALISMAN will be heading to camera here in
Vancouver in July. The production offices are already set up. Here's
