A Cool Review of MAN ON FIRE, Tony Scott's Latest!

Hey folks, Harry here... I see this one next Tuesday and I'm really really hoping it kicks a lot of ass, I've been hearing it does. God-willing, the next film we'll see Tony Scott do will be DOMINO based on that great Richard Kelly script! Denzel sounds like a real punisher in this thing, just a few more days! Here ya go...

Hey Harry,

I'm an avid reader and first time reviewer. If you post this, call me George.

Just got back from an early screening of "Man on Fire" at the Zanuck Theater at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles. Tony Scott is an absolutely amazing Director, right up there with the greats of our time.

Denzel Washington is the ultimate badass in this movie. Let's just say "Training Day" is left in the dust in terms of sheer savageness. He kills methodically and with a level of enjoyment that is simply fantastic on screen. The audience I was with on numerous occasions cheered Denzel's lines in this movie. I mean, he gets pleasure from what he does to these mtherfckers. Cutting off fingers, blowing shit and people up, nothing is left unturned in his characters search for the pieces of garbage that stole the little girl he's sworn to protect.

The acting abilities of Dakota Fanning are no joke, this girl is convincing in her role. Every element of this movie seemed to click with the audience.

The way the movie was photographed is absolutely gorgeous. The cinematography makes it ultra realistic and gritty.

And, I think its appropriate to say Christopher Walken is a living legend on the screen. I mean the man is just so smooth in this movie, it makes ever scene with him remind me of "True Romance" (The Sicilian)and "Pulp Fiction" (The Watch). In fact, knowing that Tony Scott had worked with Tarantino's script for "True Romance", I found myself realizing how great it was that I would see this tonight and Kill Bill Volume 2 tomorrow. This movie is really, really, truly good. It evokes emotions wonderfully, both "oh-shit-that-must-have-hurt" moments and sweet moments between the two protaganists. That particular dichotomy is increasingly difficult to achieve, and this movie does it perfectly. I recommend it completely.

Georgie
