The Laws of Robotics Flash Featurette on Proyas' Film Adaptation of Asimov's I ROBOT!

Hey folks, Harry here... This is a film that I'm anxious, nervous, scared and eager to see. First, turning Isaac Asimov's I ROBOT into a science fiction action adventure at some levels just seems morally reprehensible, buuuuuuuuut... Everyone that I've talked to that has read the script has enjoyed it quite a bit. Then there's that whole Alex Proyas thing, and what I mean by that is... well, obviously he's a genius and I love to death THE CROW and DARK CITY, so I'm curious as hell to see what he's come up with here. Meanwhile... as this film is going forward, many companies are actually developing humanoid robots with human like dexterity, motion, grace and of course a humanoid form. We've got robots that know kung fu, that dance disco, that can do sumo wrestling and with motion capture being able to show computers how we move, that can in turn be used to feed data into robots, which will progressively get more and more intelligent, till they become self-aware and kill us all. A friend of mine that is an electrical engineer specializing in microchips does outsourced work for many companies around the world and the other day, his boss asked him to go get a piece of equipment that they were to analyze and the name brand on it was... SKYNET - I shit you not. He refused to work on the thing for obvious Manhattan Project style issues of possible doom of man... heh... and chose another project to work on instead. It is pretty amazing that something like THE LAWS OF ROBOTICS that Asimov laid down, will most likely be put to use one day relatively soon. Hell, why not, Clarke's Space Elevator is moving forward. Well the designs and storyboards in the below piece are quite nice. Check it out!
