Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
... check this out.
Seems Stephen Sommers has been busy getting more than VAN HELSING ready for this summer. Universal Studios in both Orlando (May ’04) and LA (June ’04) are getting ready to open REVENGE OF THE MUMMY – THE RIDE, and they’re working with the director to make sure that it’s a cutting-edge mix between a rollercoaster and a theme ride.
I worked at Universal in Hollywood way back in the early ‘90s. That’s where I first met many of the friends I still have today. It was a lot of fun, especially for someone who loves theme park rides. They never had a real rollercoaster, though, so it’s nice to see one finally being put in. I dig rollercoasters, one of those primal, shameless, any-time-any-place sort of things. The mix of the two is probably the future of this kind of large-scale attraction, and even if I didn’t profess a fondness for the particular flavor of cheese that Sommers dishes up so ably, I’d be interested in the rides.

Looks like fun. And finally, a Stephen Sommers production where the seatbelts are actually included...
"Moriarty" out.
