More Rumors about Terrence Malick's next movie!

Hey folks, Harry here... Ok, Malick... You can't get more mysterious than Malick if you tried. The man lives here in Austin, is almost constantly rumored to have been seen, yet never photographed. A complete enigma around the local film community, and I love it. Let's see what we have here...

Harry/Moriarty,

"Long time reader, first time yada yada yada...." I was sitting in a class at NYU last week that producer Sarah Green ("Frida") was visiting, talking about certain future projects with Julie Taymor and others. Those Taymor projects were certainly interesting to note, but they hadn't gotten off the ground yet, so why bother publicizing them? Anyhow, what did grab my attention was when she went on to her next project (after um...."Havana Nights"): a new Terrence Malick movie!

Someone pleaded for her to say more, but all she could give us was this: $40 mil., shooting in July, starring Colin Farrell, and 'an allegory for the state of things in this country.'

Now that sounds interesting. Especially the part about 'this country.' Looks like we can scratch Che off for later. Could it instead be his adaptation of Walker Percy's "The Moviegoer," rumored a few years back? Who knows, because Malick binds everyone to secrecy. I feel guilty even breaking that, because of the enormous amount of respect I have for him, but I give you nothing more than a pittance of information.

Thanks Terry... Alright, it's obvious that this isn't Malick's oft discussed CHE film with Benicio. With Sarah's statement of, "an allegory for the state of things in this country." that could mean it's that long rumored film adaptation of THE MOVIEGOER, which would be great. Having Colin Farrell play Binx Bolling would be pretty great actually. However, a long time ago we ran a rumor that Terrence was writing a screenplay adaptation of CATCHER IN THE RYE and that he had managed to convince the "It'll never be a movie" J. D. Salinger into allowing the adaptation. However, it's my bet that it is either one of these. Both would be great - but I'm leaning towards THE MOVIEGOER as Colin is way too old for Holden.
