Hobbes Takes A Snapshot Of PAPARAZZI!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

This just sounds like a bad wish fulfillment thriller that shouldn’t have been made. Maybe they’ll pull it off and make it work, but the idea sounds smarmy to me. This is the first review I’ve seen for it, so check this out...

Heya Red, Hobbes here...

Just came from a sneak peek of "Paparazzi" the movie. The movie was not 100% complete, and was using a temp score and the color correction wasn't completely finished.

Overall, the movie was entertaining. It wasn't a top-notch movie but it wasn't a "B" movie either. It fell somewhere in between. The movie is about a new celebrity action star named Bo Laramie (played by Cole Hauser). He is followed and hounded by four extremely slimy papparazi photographers. They eventually cause Bo, his wife (played by Robin Tunney), and their son to be involved in a severe car accident. The son ends up in a coma. The 4 dirtbags all jump out of their cars and start snapping pictures of the carnage, trying to get the money shot instead of saving lives. Eventually, Bo gets so sick of these guys that he either kills or sets up each one.

It includes some nice plot twists and tries to scrape out some suspence. The detective is played by Dennis Farina and he is excellent. The main two bad guys are played by Alec Baldwin and Tom Sizemore, and they also do a very good job. There are also several cameo's throughout the picture by Mel Gibson (funny), Chris Rock (hilarious), Matthew Maconnahay and Vince Vaughn.

Ok, what didn't I like. The music was good for some scenes and just horrible for others. I know this was a temp score but some of the music really took me out of the movie. The main two female roles were not acted very well. The wife and another female role really seemed out of place and helped lower my enjoyment of this movie. Some of the scenes seemed top notch "A" quality, and then other scenes seemed like I was watching something on Cinemax or TMC; that was a little disappointing. Lastly, the movie ends with a horrible tag line, just horrible!!!!

Overall, I did enjoy the movie. There were some great scenes and some very creative dispatching of the bad guys. It also gives us a little view into how annoying and frustrating the Paparrazi can really be.

Until next time, Hobbes out.

Sounds interesting, I suppose. I just hope there’s not this smug, holier-than-thou attitude about the paparazzi. I think they’re scumbags, but I also think there’s nothing worse than someone whining about being famous.

"Moriarty" out.
