Alliance takes a look at 50 FIRST KISSES!

Hey folks, Harry here... There have only been two Adam Sandler films I've liked that I've seen... THE WEDDING SINGER & PUNCHDRUNK LOVE (which technically I loved with unlimited passion), and admittedly I have not seen HAPPY GILMORE, which some folks I know seem to love, but so far the trailers on this haven't really done anything for me, and it seems a bit like a retread in a way of GROUNDHOG DAY, which was genius. Well, let's hope it gets better, the closer it gets...

Hi there,

Just got out of a screening for "50 First Dates", the new Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore comedy and thought I'd toss out my opinion. I loved seeing the great chemistry of the two in The Wedding Singer, and while I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan I did appreciate Little Nicky which puts me in a strange, but not crazy category (I hope). I was looking forward to seeing the sweetness that was so attractive in The Wedding Singer and I was not disappointed, unfortunately the rest of the film despite its best intentions was a colossal bore. Rob Schneider continues his string of offbeat supporting characters to Adam Sandler straight man cynicism, which is good. Sean Astin brings back the "Mikey" lisp for a hilarious turn as a protective 'roid enhanced big brother to Drew Barrymore, which is also good. Adam Sandler is going for the loveable, egghead goof he's always been but the rage displayed so hysterically in many of his greatest films is noticeably absent.

It's funny, one might mention "Momento" when promoting or talking about this film, but the vengeance and anger of Guy Pearce's victimized husband has instead been replaced by a cute soundtrack and long, lingering glances between 2 great comedy stars currently coasting.

Bring back some of the rage associated with deep loss and you might just have a great movie, or at least something that doesn't feel like a bad "Clean Slate/Groundhog Day" tribute. Some jokes might be good too.

Please call me The Alliance…
