Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
On March 19, 2003, we ran an open call for zombie extras who wanted to be part of Edgar Wright’s upcoming Working Title zomromcom, SHAUN OF THE DEAD.
It might sound like an easy joke, but I don’t think this is going to be a silly goof on zombie movies. According to Wright, this is a film set in George Romero’s zombie universe, where zombies obey all the rules as set forth in those classics, and it’s not meant to parody those films so much as tell another story in that world with a slightly different sensibility.
Since that first article, we’ve covered the film a few times, including an interview with star and co-writer Simon Pegg, your first look at the teaser poster art, some photos from the set, and even a review of the rough cut.
Well, now there’s a trailer for it, and even though it’s not encoded particularly well, it’s worth going to take a look at immediately for all fans of SPACED or zombie films or, if you’re positively riddled with good taste, both.
If you go to the Official Site for Working Title Films, then go to their news section, you’ll find the link to the SHAUN OF THE DEAD trailer. Personally, I loved it. Exactly what I hoped it would look like. Right now, this film’s set for an April release in the UK, but there’s no American date set. I hope that changes soon so I can start counting down the days. In the meantime, thanks to Working Title for this first peek at things, and for the sharp-eared Romero fans among you, listen closely to the end of the trailer. Good stuff...
"Moriarty" out.
