Father Geek here with sad news for film lovers, especially those who live for sharp witted British fare... David Hemmings has died.
I first took notice of David when I was in film school and I went to the old Texas Theater accoss the street from campus at UT with some classmates to see a new Euro-pic called BLOWUP... and thats what it did... we left changed... and film took on a new impassioned light for us all. Hemmings simply blew me away in that film. I caught him in EYE OF THE DEVIL, and CAMELOT too. I was becoming a real fan, then... I wandered into a piece of psychedelic pluff called BARBARELLA... Phantastic!!! Dildano was a wonderful comic turn for this great actor.
Hemmings would thrill me, and chill me, and make me laugh in over 75 films, mostly Euro-fare, but I'd catch him whenever, where ever I could. Annnd loved every minute he was on the big screen. He was still making great characters for us to enjoy too... in the likes of GANGS OF NEW YORK, and NIGHT WE CALL IT A DAY, annnnd as the delightful Nigel in THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN.
Farewell David Hemmings, you left us way way too soon, We'll miss you greatly here at Geek Headquarters...
