UPDATED! More On WATCHMEN Casting!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Okay... so a couple of days ago, we ran a rumor about John Cusack possibly being cast as Dan (Night Owl) in David Hayter’s upcoming WATCHMEN.

There were a couple of things wrong with that. First, the idea that anyone is cast as anything yet is wrong. That’s because the second thing that was wrong was the idea that Hayter’s directing. He’d like to, certainly, and the studio’s open to it, but no decision has been made yet. They may end up making him test for it, which isn’t uncommon. Andrew Niccol did that for THE TRUMAN SHOW, shooting one scene from his script with Gary Oldman playing Truman. Before they can start casting WATCHMEN, they’ll have to decide if Hayter is indeed the man for the job, and that means there’s a whole process that’ll happen regarding that first. For now, the one solid thing is that Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, who are just finishing up HELLBOY for Revolution with Guillermo Del Toro, are looking forward to gearing up with the same studio on WATCHMEN, with much of the same crew just rolling over from one film to the other. Hopefully, we’ll start hearing more about the picture soon, and at the moment, know that the casting isn’t happening, and won’t for a while.

We’ll keep you posted.

"Moriarty" out.
