Kerr Avon gives us a review on SHAUN OF THE DEAD

Hey folks, Harry here... a 'Spaced' ZOMBIE flick is a very good thing to look forward to, I promise yuz that. SPACED was bliss, and I have the notion that this will be as well. Here's a little advance look at how the film plays currently....

Thought this info may be of interest to fans of comedy and horror in general and fans of the UK TV series Spaced in particular.

I recently attended a 'rough cut' preview of the new British movie called Shaun of the Dead. The movie will be released next year to co-inside with the release of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

MILD SPOILERS

The movie opens with our (obviously) hapless hero having relationship problems with his long term girlfriend, she's sick of Shaun's useless friend Ed hanging around. Shaun has some other problems today, a dead end job, a creepy step-father, and trying to get Ed to give him some space. As his bad day progresses we are aware of strange goings on through TV, radio, and back ground events. All of which Shaun is oblivious too.

After a night of heavy drinking Shaun and Ed awake to a post apocalypse neighbourhood, after they discover a zombie in their back garden (who they first mistake for a drunk) they realise what has happened to the world. Shaun then sets out to round up his girlfriend and mother plus others and take them to a safe location till it all blows over.

The safe location he chooses is his local pub, which is soon surrounded by the undead and he and the gang are forced to make a seemingly hopeless last stand.

The cut I saw was minus any special effects etc, the temporary sound track consisted of tracks from John Carpenter movies (cool). The film is very much in the style of Spaced (this is a good thing), I found the film amusing rather then hilarious but that could improve with a little fine tuning to the editing, soundtrack, and most importantly a theatre full of like minded people. I would recommend this movie to all Zombie fans, you especially will get it.
