Toronto: Dib on Anne Fontaine's NATHALIE with the (pant pant) gorgeous Emmanuelle Beart!

Hey folks, Harry here and this sounds like a must see. Emmanuelle Beart is just one of the creations on planet earth that makes one believe in sin. Absolutely enchanting. Here's Dib's review of her latest film, this one with Gerard Depardieu. Sounds aces!

So I saw my final gala premiere last night with Anne Fontaine's Nathalie... When Fontaine got on stage to introduce the film, she mentioned this was not only the first time it was being shown to an audience, but the first time one of it's stars, Emmanuelle Beart, was seeing it. She then introduced us to the stunning Beart, who was the only star from the movie that made the trip overseas. But she did a wonderful job in her broken english of telling us about how nervous she was seeing the film for the first time and how if we didn't like it, please don't tell her because she's fragile and will probably burst into tears. It was just nice to see an actor for the film actually say something, since with the previous premiere's I went to the director just called the cast out to introduce them and then they left.

Anyway, for those of you who don't know (probably most), this french film is the story about a married couple (played by Gerard Depardieu and Fanny Ardant) who's relationship has become distant. When she discovers that he's cheating on her, she hires a prostitue (Beart) to figure out what he likes. The two women then end up forming a strange sort of friendship that becomes the focus of the film, as they meet to discuss the husband.

This movie was very good, at even though most of the scenes of Beart and Depardieu's encounters are told and not shown, it was a more erotic film then the one I saw Tuesday, "In the Cut". Just goes to show you that sexiness is in the mind just as much as in the body. I think it would have been even better if I had understood the words instead of reading the subtitles, though.

Solid performances from the whole cast, and it was a well paced and directed film. I think this was my favorite of the 3 I saw at the festival. You really become engrossed in the lives of these two women and their strange relationships with Depardieu. Very well done and definitely recommended.

Anyway, that's it for me. I guess I probably won't have any other scoops until next year's film festival but hey, if you ever need an agent in Toronto, you know how to reach me...
