Apt Pupil. Well, this script is real gooooood. Bryan Singer has one hell of film lined up for his follow up to THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Basic storyline for those of you who don't know, bright high school kid becomes fascinated with a Nazi SS officer that is responsible for a ton of atrocities. This will be one of the most disturbing films you will ever witness. I can just hear and see Ian McKellan as the aged Nazi. Brad Renfro will be perfect for Todd. David Schwimmer as the Guidance Counselor will be fun, watch for the red shoes! However, do note this film will make you feel icky. Ian WILL be the creepiest character on screen since Lector. This won't be a graphic horror film, it will be a psychological one. I can just hear Ottman's "wagnerian" hints during some of Ian's bedtime stories. A fleshed out and very REAL story. All I can say is this:
If Bryan Singer delivers this film, as I know he will, then you will see RABID anticipation of X-MEN. And I will certainly lead the chants. Ed Solomon's script is not done yet, casting hasn't begun yet no matter what some site's may be saying. It's all speculation and fanboy fantasies.
I'm dying to see this film, probably more than any other. Why? Because Bryan is the most exciting young director out there. Because when I met him, I saw a light behind his eyes, that will make for many great stories on screen. I can't believe I have to wait till February. "All good things to those who wait."
