Don't know if this counts as a scoop or not, but I thought it was cool.
Today, while wandering through the mall, I was confronted by a girl with pink hair and a nose ring holding a clipboard. She said, "Hey, handsome, got time?"
Well, I got a weakness for punk-haired girls with nose rings who call me "handsome". Especially ones with clipboards. So, of course, I said that, yeah, I had time. She told me I was gonna watch some trailers for a movie and then be interviewed on what I thought about them. I'd gone through this once before, and the trailer I ended up having to critique nine ways to sunday was for WILD WILD WEST. Nevertheless, I agreed, and she took me into a small room in this CINESURVEY (or something like that) office.
Then she left, and an older woman who looked like Angela Lansbury came in, with her own clipboard. I had been duped, and what was worse, by the looks of Ol' Mother Hubbard sitting there with me, I'd be doing analysis for some weepy Merchant Ivory shit.
So, imagine my surprise when she answers my question ("So, what the hell am I gonna be watching, anyway?") with: "Oh, some thing called KILL BILL".
She jumped a foot when I yelled, " No fucking shit?!"
Well, here's what I got for ya: She showed me several TV trailers that have been cut for the movie. The footage is just as great as that first teaser, but with some new stuff:
Opens with THE BRIDE in Voice Over talking about how "they left me to die..." etc, and we see guns going off...
We see a butt walking away from the camera, swiveling hips, which leads into-
Daryl Hannah saying "You better never wake up" (or something like that, AKA- O.S.L.T.)
CU of the Bride's eye, snapping open, her thrashing her way out of bed,
Some shots of kung fu, motor cycles in an underground tunnel, that shot of Lucy Lui and gang walking toward the camera,
Then the screen divides into 4 boxes: Bill, Michael Jai White, Lucy Lui, and Vivica Fox doing various violent acts
Then Vivica Fox saying in VO: "You should want to get even with me..." (OSLT)
While we see The BRIDE tearing up the House of Blue Leaves...
And The BRIDE SAYS: "I'd have to kill you..." (VO)
And we see Uma Thurman tracing a square in the air with her finger, a la PULP: "..for us to be 'square'".
Then we see One of the Yubari sisters laughing on one half of the screen, while the other divides into the title which reads: KILL BILL VOLUME ONE OCT. 10
Through all of this, I was amazed at all the different colors more than anything else. Filters, gels, film stock, all seemed to change with every cut that was in this clip, which I was astounded to see at the end had only been 30 seconds long! All the ones I saw were a variation on this one, just some of the shots in different order. Anyway, you can expect to see this any day now on TV, I guess.
I couldn't believe my luck, and then it got better: On the way out, I got the punky girl's number. New Tarantino, and a cute chick's number....I'm too good.
