Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
They’re doing midnight screenings for this one tomorrow night, as the incredibly overeager ushers at the Cinerama Dome emphatically told each and every patron at the FREDDY VS. JASON late show I went to last night. It opens on Friday. Pretty much, it’s up to you guys now. I enjoyed it for what it is... a giant shark movie. It’s no big mystery what the Creeper looks like. He’s not particularly a figure of fright in the film. He’s more like an unstoppable animal who happens to be very, very effective at killing and eating. I like this one more than the first one, which I thought had a killer start and a weak finish.
Is it great? Nope. Will you agree with me? Dunno. These two reviewers couldn’t agree with one another. Check ‘em out.

I know a lot of people had problems with the last half of the first jeepers creepers - so if you had a problem with it, you're probably going to have a problem with jeepers creepers 2. This is a monster flick. And a damned fine one.
The film opens during the daytime (and I think that if they do a third one, it should be entirely during the daylight, as that seems to be when both films are at their creepiest) - with a boy on a farm fixing up the scarecrows. Well, suffice to say, the little one gets plucked away by a not so inanimate scarecrow, The Creeper. But he left behind one of his weapons made with bone from some of his victims (why the previous reviewer said there was no trophy collecting is beyond me, I think there's a lot of trophy collecting.) - so the father and brother of the abducted boy decide to go after him. The rest of the movie consists of a schoolbus full of kids getting plucked off one by one and the fathers quest to kill The Creeper.
Barring any further spoilers, the reason I liked this movie was because there were genuine cringe moments and some excellent deaths. People just seem to not be able to enjoy a good horror flick anymore. Sure, there was no real insight into The Creeper's past (and on a sign at the end, slight spoiler, he's called the bat from hell), but I think that makes him all the more ominous. Are there more of him? What is his purpose? But, as I said, if you can sit back and not question the movie, you'll enjoy it. If you question it you'll end up having more and more questions (Why did he drive a truck in the first movie, why doesn't he do that in this movie? Why don't we hear the jeepers creepers song in this movie? et cetera) - but if you want to see a really creepy winged demon hunting down humans for food and body parts, you're in the right place. Trust me.

While I browse this site on a regular basis, I’ve never written in before. The name I use on the net is Zillamon51. My site is Digital Monster Island, which is dedicated to reviews of giant monster movies (especially Japanese kaiju eiga) on DVD.
I just got back from an advance showing of the new horror flick, Jeepers Creepers 2. Several cast members stopped in Detroit as part of a promotional bus tour a couple of weeks ago, and that’s where I got passes to this free screening.
Let me begin by saying that I really enjoyed the original Jeepers Creepers. It was an effective, well-made horror film. The Creeper was a fascinating new villain who had the potential to become a horror icon like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger.
I went into JC2 wanting to learn more about the Creeper’s biology and mythology. I was sorely disappointed. JC2 is nothing more than a brainless exercise in killing teens. Give Jason wings, and you have JC2. There are no sympathetic characters for the audience to root for. The few that had any potential in this area were never developed. The two young protagonists in the first film were believable and well-portrayed. The sequel contains nothing but a busload of obnoxious jocks for the Creeper to dispatch. There were a few story elements, like a farmer hunting the Creeper to avenge his son, which could have been interesting. However, they go nowhere. Ditto a girl who suddenly becomes psychic for no better reason than to explain to everyone what the Creeper is trying to accomplish.
Jeepers Creepers introduced a creature with a well thought-out physiology and a potentially fascinating history. All of that is abandoned in JC2 in favor of a meaningless exercise in special effects. I’m glad I didn’t actually have to pay to see it.
