Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Looks that way. This was inevitable, based on the first film’s success and the fact that it’s already set up to be remade in Hollywood. I didn’t think the original was that good an execution of a fairly foolproof idea. As comedies go, it wasn’t particularly funny. A friend of mine screened the at his birthday party a few years back to a roomful of fairly hip film fans, and he was just pleased to have gotten hold of a film print of what he’d been assured was a great Korean picture. We were all a little flabbergasted by the movie. Still, it’s a commodity now, a franchise. Best American equivalent I can think of is ANALYZE THIS and ANALYZE THAT. Yeah, I guess the first one made enough money to warrant a sequel... but are you really excited about the follow-up?
Hey Harry,
Don't know if this has been reported on or anything, but I live in Seoul and next week the sequel to 2001's My Wife is a Ganster opens.
My Wife is a Gangster 2 is the clever title on this and I wanted to point out the official website, which is mostly in Korean, but you can check out the trailer and download some wallpapers and a screensaver. Looks pretty sweet. With the quick turn around to DVD over here this should be out easily by the end of the year in a region 3 disc complete with English subtitles. If no one's seen the original track it down before America makes its crappy remake with J. Lo as the lead.
Rafterman
Dude, after GIGLI, do you really think anyone’s going to be asking J-Lo to play any sort of mob figure or contract killer any time soon? We will be spared some small horror, let’s hope.
"Moriarty" out.
