The MTV Movie Awards always launch summer right after Memorial Day, and the channel’s Video Music Awards always slam summer shut right before Labor Day. They both consistently account for the some of the most highly rated hours on MTV, and stupid Herc believes them to be the finest award shows ever aired.
Jimmy Fallon is succeeded this year by a triumphant, returning Chris Rock. Since its earliest years, the channel has always tried to get an SNL vet to host. One desperate year, they let some people from “In Living Color” host. There was much unpleasantness. Lesson learned. The likes of Will Sasso and Mike McDonald remain waiting by their phones.
Good Charlotte, Coldplay and someone named Christina Aguilera will make with the live music. And, in an alarming nod to Viacom synergy, Jun from “Big Brother” is going to turn up!
