Hey folks, Harry here... I'm dying to see footage of this film. Dying. I flipped a thousand times for the screenplay (Click to remember!) and was ecstatic when Paramount picked it up. Then they decided to release it in the heat of competition on May 14th, thus showing further confidence in this possible work of unbelievably geeky coolness! Then I talked to one studio executive that had seen a rough cut of the film, that didn't get it. Apparently, while this person understood why he and I would like it, he wasn't sure if the rest of the country would "get" it. He just wasn't sure if the world was 'cool' enough to fall in love with a fictional science fiction 1930-ish universe. He's wrong, but it was a valid question. The key for me at this point, knowing that the visuals are wowing people, is the score. Who is doing it? Right now, I'm telling you... this film needs a great score. Not just some run of the mill atonal background... but a classic great score that trumpets the action and suspense... This film needs to sound as though Miklos Rosza is alive and well! Like Max Steiner is pounding the drums! Like Erich Wolfgang Korngold is directing the strings! Something classic, from the days of old! Can't wait to find out who they choose!
Call me THE HAIRLESS APE
Saw the 20-minute promo/test real for WORLD OF TOMORROW. It's hard to get across just how BLOODY COOL the visuals are. It's really like nothing you've seen before, and I mean that in a GOOD way. I suck at describing visuals, but if you recall the what you felt when you first saw that ship in STAR WARS fill the big screen all those years ago, you'll get close to what I was feeling when I saw this - just as the SFX for SW were an order of magnitude ahead of anything we'd seen before, so too is WORLD OF TOMORROW at least an order of magnitude ahead of where we are now. And it's not just a showpiece for what a computer can do - it has -style-.
Can't wait for this one.
THA.
