Hey folks, Harry here... This is a gorgeous trailer. I wouldn't bet against John Lee Hancock on this one, but my fears come from problems with earlier drafts that I know are still a part of the film. The problems come with opening the story to the larger tale of Texas instead of staying focused on THE ALAMO and the men in it. The same problems plagued PEARL HARBOR, THE LONGEST DAY, A BRIDGE TOO FAR, 1776 and many other historical films like the ones that Ted Turner insists on producing which refused to focus upon a key moment or a key story within a larger tale of history. TROY stays focused on the event at hand. It doesn't go galavanting off to tell what happened later or before. You won't see the other stories of ACHILLES or ODYSSEUS. This film is attempting to tell the larger tale... the one about Santa Anna's rule, the story of Sam Houston, the story of the Alamo and the story of San Jacinto and the birth of Texas. It's a helluva story with a ton of scope. Hell, I'd say it's a story big enough for one helluva trilogy, but it may be a case of too much story in too little time. We'll see. I'm rooting for it something fierce. I hear that the performances from Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Jason Patric are all tremendous. Certainly the cinematography is beautiful, but what would you expect from the DP of ROAD WARRIOR and DANCES WITH WOLVES? heh... Behold one nice as hell trailer!

I hope they do a big premiere at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio... That theater is astonishingly beautiful and unlike anything you've ever been in. That'd be one great place to unfurl this epic!
