Some cool stuff learned from the Fox presentation for the ongoing TCA tour:
1. There was a plan with “John Doe,” but it may have been a stupid plan. “When you're very close to death, when you're seeing the white light, God or a higher being gives you all the information of life to carry on to the next life," said Fox network entertainment president Gail Berman about what the show’s producers had in mind. The John Doe guy almost died, and that’s why he knew everything. Others knew what had happened to him, and didn’t want John Doe to figure it out. For some reason.
2. The third “24” season will pick up three years after the second, at which point Kim Bauer will be in CTU’s employ, said Berman. And so will her daddy, Jack. The third-season opener, like the second-season opener, will unfurl commercial-free.
3. There will be many guest voices on “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill.” The more interesting include Jennifer Garner, Ian McKellan and Mr. T (on the former), and Ben Stiller and Fred Willard (on the latter).
4. Willard will also join the cast of Norm Macdonald’s new Fox sitcom, “A Minute With Stan Hooper,” which was created by “Coach” mastermind Barry Kemp. Macdonald, Willard and Kemp are all really funny.
