Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Howard Roark is a friend over at Fox, and he sent me a letter earlier tonight, excited over the project they just picked up, excited over the announcement in today’s trades.
Seems they’ve picked up the rights to SIDEWAYS, based on a novel that’s coming out later this year, and Alexander Payne is going to be directing the film, with his wife Sandra Oh and Paul Giamatti both attached to star. Roark seems excited by the project, a “very human comedy” about a guy who, facing his impending marriage, decides to go for one last blowout bender road trip with his best friend, ending up in the wine country of Santa Ynez. He called it “boozy and sexy,” and he says Michael London (THIRTEEN) is producing, with the script having been written by Payne with his writing partner Jim Taylor.
I love their track record so far, and I look forward to seeing what they come up with this time out. One thing’s for sure... if the reaction that Rourk had is any indication, everyone at Searchlight is breaking out the party hats over this one.
"Moriarty" out.
