Werner Herzog making a Loch Ness Monster film'

Harry here... Werner Herzog making a Loch Ness Monster film... or a movie surrounding the legend of the Loch Ness monster... well, it makes me giddy.

I'd feel the same way if he were making a Yeti film in the mountains of Tibet... I'd just be happy as hell. See, what I've always loved about the "REAL" monsters of modern legend has been how much WE as a society want to believe or not believe in them.

I don't know about you, but every damn time some Japanese Fishing boat pulls up some giant sea monster looking thing, I am hit with two instant feelings. 1) Profound giddiness that they caught a Sea Monster! 2) Profound sadness that they caught a Sea Monster!

There's something wonderful about that thing you just have to believe in. Be it your religion, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, bigfoot, Harry Knowles or even Nessie. It's about believing in those things we can't see. From reading Herzog's comments in the article, he seems to want to make a film about why we need to look at a pool of water and believe there is a fantastical creature in there.

A film examining the need and power of myths is a wonderful topic to explore, and personally, I'd love nothing more than for Herzog to capture Nessie on film... just don't take her to Sea World please!
