Dlaor Catches A Wave With STEP INTO LIQUID!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

I regret that I haven’t taken better advantage of the IFP/Los Angeles Film Festival. I mean, they’re using a venue right around the corner from my house. I regret that because I haven’t paid attention, I’ve missed some cool screenings in my neighborhood, like this one:

just got back from a screening of "step into liquid" at the ifp los angeles film festival. directed by dana brown (son of bruce brown, director of "endless summer"), this is a documentary about surfing with AMAZING cinematography. this is easily one of the best films i've seen all year. from hawaii to costa rica to ireland to texas to wisconsin to chile, the film explores some of the most incredible surfing ever caught on film. there's the story of a man who has surfed every day for the last 25 years, as well as a paralyzed surfer who makes his return to surfing (lying down on his board); both of whom were at the screening. also in attendance were dana brown and his father, as well as probably more people i didn't see. there are interviews with the best surfers in the world, surfing in 66 foot clear blue waves and two foot muddy brown ripples (there are even guys who surf behind tankers in texas, where they can surf for miles straight).

but the most amazing thing about this film is the cinematography. you've never seen anything like this. when the camera sits in the water, looking forward through the pipe at the surfer on the other side...words cannot describe it. it's just awe-inspiring. and it's all real, which is just mind-blowing. you have to see this movie, man. It could be the best documentary of the year, and it'll knock your fucking socks off.

it doesn't really matter if you use this or not, as long as you understand that you have to see the film.

but in case you do, call me dlaor.
