One of our readers found an article in NEWTYPE, a manga newspaper, which talked about the upcoming NEON GENESIS EVANGELION live-action film, and I was startled to see how much pre-production art from the WETA Workshops was included in the piece.
The idea of the WETA guys doing this has got me drooling. I mean, I love LORD OF THE RINGS, and I’m excited about KONG, but if they do this, it has a chance to be something we’ve never seen on film before.
I hope we’re on the verge of a brave new world of SF films, epic visions that take full advantage of the digital tools that are available to filmmakers now.
I know this... if anyone can create something that will redefine the space epic, it’s WETA.
Considering that these are just a few preliminary images, I think it’s safe to say that I’m officially freakin’ excited about what this film might be now, and I hope you guys enjoy these pics as much as I did.
