Hey folks, Harry here... In the history of truly awful terrible unwatchable loads of shit... BEVERLY HILLS COP 3 towers up there amongst the most aromatic of cinematic dung heaps. So, of course, there must be a sequel! When I first received this email from Franco, I thought... Ha... Ha... funny, he try fool Harry, but then that feeling began to sink in. That one that thought COYOTE UGLY 2 was just a lie. That feeling that, no, in fact this could be reality. So I poked around, and absolutely, it seems that hot sequel boy Jason Richman has written the latest draft of BHC4 and that he's also busy at work on RUSH HOUR 3. Indeed this is in the works, indeed Eddie is attached and indeed they are seeking directors. Of this project I can only say... It is metaphysically impossible for BEVERLY HILLS COP IV to suck more that BEVERLY HILLS COP III. That's a fact. Will "Serge" be back?
Salut!
hi from cannes harry!
some fantastic goings-on over the past couple of weeks - do yourself a favour and check out Van Sant's "Elephant" and also, "
Anyway, bit of a news item for you. Was speaking to a Paramount representative this week, who has been staying at the same hotel, Villa Toboso, and he let me in on a couple of films in the works there.
We were talking about the surprising success of Eddie Murphy's "Daddy Day Care" and he started telling me not to underestimate Eddie, that he's still got it, blah, blah, blah.
He said they're doing another Beverly Hills Cop within the next twelve months, and it's currently in rewrites. The guy that did it, also did the chris rock film bad company, and he said it's really good, a return to the first film, and that it'll have both Billy, played by Judge Reinhold and Taggart, played by John Ashton back in it. He wouldn't say what the story was about, just told me it's action from the first scene and they're going to skip the campiness and humor of beverly hills cop 3 with a tone more reminiscent of the first film.
he said they're still throwing ideas around, but it'll most likely take place in bh again. martin brest is interested in directing it, as is michael bay and tony scott. it'll get going as soon as they have a script thats right.
he also said that there won't be another "star trek" movie for a while now, and when there is, it won't be with picard etc.
hope this helps,
franco.
