Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
If I wanted to use the mail aintitcool.com mailbox as some sort of a barometer for how much interest there is in the world for various film projects, then right now, I’d say WONDERFUL DAYS is running hot. Last week, we got two e-mails from people about new material they found regarding the film, and I’m struck by just how excited people can be over a film in a foreign language, a film where they don’t really know anything about it. In film, images still speak louder than words, and all it takes in one look at the work that’s been done on this film to know that it’s something worth paying further attention to. I love that film cults can start pre-release these days. Anyway... here’s the first letter...
I've been on the lookout for that "Wonderful Days" website ever since you gave the heads up about it. It's been updated with more pix and some clips.
For the newest trailer (only in ASF & mpeg format), CLICK HERE!!
Good luck if you find out how to download that "High Definition" trailer.
For some clips, CLICK HERE!!
There are four, with the fourth showing how they made what everyone thought was very cool computer animated backgrounds but were actually very detailed, lovingly handcrafted miniatures! Clip number 3 is interesting. It shows a crude "earlier" version of the trailer, including the heroine in different-style hairdo. Is this the trailer for the short film that secured the funding for the feature?
Favor, Harry, can you get your Korean contacts to look over the site and tell me WHEN this film will show? It's apparently LATE already. Will it ever be finished?
Yours,
Quentin Tarantado (which, if you speak Filipino, means "asshole")
Check out how much Quentin seems to echo the enthusiasm of today’s other contributor:
Dear Harry,
The new high definition trailer for the Korean animation "Wonderful Days" is up RIGHT HERE!!
They've also put up a new poster you can SEE HERE!!
And there are some gorgeous still images and shots of minatures LIKE THISor even THIS!!
If you click on the "Wonderful Days" box on the bar at the top of the page you get taken to the most fantastic part of the website. An interactive thingummyjig which lets you see stills from the film and a few animated sequences. Clicking on "about movie" and then "multi animation" allows you to see how they mixed animation with minatures. Unfortunately it is all in Korean, but if you click on the buttons under the picture, then you can see the rough animation, sketches and final sequence.
To top it all off there's a spiffy little e-card RIGHT HERE!!
Unfortunately these are only available on the Korean portion of the website. Sorry my Korean is very poor so I can't translate it.
Incidentally another animated film has just been released in Korea called "Oseam" which roughly translates as "Small Temple". Its about a boy looking for his mother. The link with the camera next to it is for the trailer and the one with a speaker is for the music video: TRY THIS!!
I hope that you find these links interesting and thank you for taking an interest in Sympathy for Mr Vengance. Please try to get your hands on OASIS and SAVE THE GREEN PLANET. They're well worth watching.
Paul Matthews
Thanks, guys for writing in. Much appreciated.
"Moriarty" out.
