Hey folks, Harry here with a report from the set of THE LIFE & DEATH OF PETER SELLERS... I have to say, I've gotten quite excited about this project and am fighting the facial tic that comes with Stephen Hopkins directing... But oddly, I've got this strange feeling that he may actually be able to pull this film off. Of course that could just be me hoping that he pulls this off. Here's the report...
Hi Harry,
ANYWAY; Just got home after working on 'The Life & Death of Peter Sellers' at Tythrop Park in Buckinghamshire. We were filming the wedding reception/garden party of him & Britt Eckland and I was DYING to tell someone about it. Can I just say BLOODY HELL I WANT TO SEE THIS FILM RIGHT NOW. In fact, I need to see the rushes on a daily basis!!!!!!
OK, not enough enthusiasm? How about this; You WILL NOT BELIEVE how Geoffery Rush is as Peter Sellers. The whole package is quite stunning. The look, the voice, the walk for god's sake!
We were waiting for him on set (prior to me seeing him in the role - I HAD seen some pre-production make-up photos which were pretty good) and I was chatting away to a friend when Mr Rush crossed behind the guy I was talking to. It is no exaggeration to say I flinched in recognition when I saw Peter Sellers walking past. I think my pal got the message I wasn't listening to him anymore when an involuntary "Fucking Hell!" ejaculated forth. He soon agreed as we stood agog staring in Geoffery's direction.
Charlize Theron also looked amazing as a young Britt Eckland albeit a bit on the tall side. Admittedly I DO have a bit of a thing for 60s pop culture so standing drinking with lookalikes of The Beatles, Michael Caine etc with 'The Look of Love' wafting through the air, watching a young, drunken Britt throwing herself at one of my all time idols was not an unpleasant way to spend today!
I do not apologise for my unbridled enthusiasm and rest assured I will unleash the Hounds of Hell on Hopkins if he screws this up.
In the words of the Bard (Stan Lee): 'Nuff said.
Take Care.
GregT.
