Irish-Man reports in on STARSHIP TROOPERS 2 news!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Well, given I loved the bloody hell out Paul Verhoeven's STARSHIP TROOPERS, which bares very little in relation to Robert Heinlein's STARSHIP TROOPERS, and while I just know this movie won't have additional nude Dina Meyer... tragic! I am happy to state that Phil Tippet is a super-genius! And at the very least... we'll see troopers KILL MORE BUGS!!! And that's what really counts. Personally, if they just bring back Clancy Brown as ZIM... I'll be happy.... OH HAPPY DAYS!!! Just confirmed cast! Clancy Brown will return as ZIM. Richard Burgi will be DAX. Then they have... Ed Lauter, the lovely Sandrine Holt, Brenda Strong as Capt. Deladier, Kelly Carlson, Billy Brown, Kelly Carkson, Cy Carter, J P Manoux, Lawrence Monoson, Colleen Porch, Drew Powell, Ed Quinn and Jason-Shane Scott in the cast. Here ya go...

Hey everyone,

Top o' the morning to you. I have some good news for all Starship Troopers fans (myself included). In the trade magazine "DVD Exclusive" that I read today, it was confirmed that "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation" is beginning production. Jon Davison is returning as producer and Ed Neumeier is returning as the writer. Phil Tippett, the FX genius from the first one (and many others) is going to direct this time around. While it didn't list a budget or say if any of the cast would return, it did give a one-sentence plot description. Apparently, a squad of troopers is trapped behind enemy lines and they discover the Bugs have created a new weapon powerful enough to wipe out human civilization.

The only downside to this is that the sequel is going to be direct-to-DVD. I hope the production values look good; at least they have a lot of the same physical and computer models for the bugs. So with an extra 6 years of technology, hopefully the same kind of effects will be more affordable for the DVD.

Regardless, I'm quite excited about this, though it won't be released for quite a while. But I thought it was worth a heads-up.

Until next time,

Irish-Man
