so i'm walking out of my apartment - conveniently located on east 3rd street between 1st and 2nd avenues, new york city - and i see row after row of parked taxi cabs. not unusual for the neighborhood. but, parked ahead of said row, was a DAILY BUGLE panel truck. then i noticed the NO PARKING signs, realized the taxis had no meters, plastic transit authority shields on their hoods, and no rearview mirrors. i turned the corner and was greeted by a horde of self-important PAs, clipboards, walkies, sleeves rolled up, sunglasses.
a cop directed me across the street to the rest of the geeks. east 2nd street was cordoned off, cones everywhere, lots of extras dressed as cops, firefighters, medical types. from my POV, once action was called, i was able to see an extra being hauled into an ambulance as a crowd of emergency workers piled around him.
some minutes later, between takes, a black SUV pulled up and out popped tobey maguire, the arachnid himself. he promptly went 'on set' and sat with his back to the on-lookers. meanwhile, while staring at the back of tobey's head, the geeks across the street started handing out gobs of KY, one red manic-panicked head literally started touching herself.
at any rate, they're presently still there. (2nd avenue - between east 2nd & 3rd streets, NYC)
attached you'll find a liberated NO PARKING SIGN.
