What is THE BROWN BUNNY' Why will everyone at Cannes be freaking dying to see it'

Hey folks, Harry here... The list of films that will be showing at Cannes this year hasn't quite been revealed yet, but some of the titles are being locked down. I hate that any big U.S. titles even get screened over there, because I hate it when the focus on Cannes becomes for folks over here... about how MATRIX RELOADED does or T3 does. Frankly, those aren't the movies that I turn my eyes and ears to Cannes to hear about. I look to Cannes for films like THE BROWN BUNNY.

What is THE BROWN BUNNY? Well, nobody really knows right now, it hasn't been seen. It is directed by Vincent Gallo and stars him and Chloe Sevigny. Here's what IMDB tells us:

"It's the story of one man's tragic loss of the love of his life. He is Bud Clay. And he races motorcycles. He rides in the 250cc Formula II class of road racing. Round and round he goes, repeating laps over and over until the race is over. The story begins with Bud racing in New Hampshire. Bud's next race is in California in five Days. And so his journey begins across America. And everyday Bud is haunted by the same memories of the last time he saw his true love. Bud will do anything to make those memories disappear. And every day he tries to find a new love. Making outrageous requests of women to come with him on his trip and then leaving them behind after they've agreed. He can't replace Daisy, the only girl he's ever loved and the only girl he will ever love. But every day he tries."

A very sweet story. Sounds like GUY ON A MOTORCYCLE, a remake of Marianne Faithful's GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE (aka NAKED UNDER LEATHER), but something in Variety from Todd McCarthy:

Maverick Filmmaker Gallo's picture concerns a young motorcycle racer's loss of the love of his life and promises to be one of this year's "scandales" based on a hardcore oral sex scene featuring Chloe Sevigny and Gallo.

Can't wait to hear how this goes over at Cannes. Last year, the brutal reality of IRREVERSIBLE was a bit much for the audiences over there. It'll be interesting to see if this is more to their... tastes...
