Ol’ Stanley Leach, the Human Metal Detector chimed in with this ditty of coolness. Looks like there was a meeting of minds so to speak in Portland. Planet X employees spill the beans!!!
"Anyone who's read the Comic Industry broadsheets knows how jittery Mike (Mignola) has been about the possible direction of a flick based on his much-loved Jack Kirby-styled "Hellboy" Dark Horse comic book, making loud comments about buying back the film rights as soon as they're up, and darkly muttering that he doubted he'd get the same freedoms as Dave "Rocketeer" Carson did.
Well, Brit screenwriter Pete Briggs (who's been signed by Universal and Horse's uber-supremo Mike Richardson to write the big-budget movie version) jetted in last week, supposedly to allay Mignola's worries. Mignola and Briggs were seen laughing and joking in his local Portland, Oregon comic emporium "Planet X", and Mignola is reported to be getting the "extensive creative input" to the movie he wanted. This is one much-relieved comic book creator."
