El Guapo te gusta THE ITALIAN CONNECTION!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with El Guapo and his look at THE ITALIAN JOB, seems that he actually enjoyed himself, which is nice, because thus far all the reports we've had on the film was that... well... it wasn't that good, but as we all know, rarely is a film entirely one-sidedly awful. So, as you take in El Guapo's take, see if you think you're like him, or if he sounds like that annoying fella that always likes the stuff you hate. (Besides me. hehehe) Here's El Guapo...

Harry,

I can't believe that my last review actually got posted! I went by the name El Guapo, and Moriarty didn't mention that he got the reference and that really upset me, but anyway...

I recently went to a screening of an unfinished print of The Italian Job and I loved it. It is one of those movies where you really get caught up in the excitement of a heist. It is filled with hilarious characters and to see what they got away with was a pure delight. I heard somewhere that Ed Norton has adamantly been screaming that the only reason he did this was for contractual obligations. I am not saying it is his best work, but I think that he should be a little proud of this film.

As the trailer states, it is a story of a group of thieves that get away with an enormous cache of gold bars and then they get betrayed by one of their own, Ed Norton. Then the rest of the movie is them trying to get the money back teaming up with the daughter, Charlize Theron, of the man that Norton killed when running away with his gold. The team consists of Seth Green as the computer geek who wants to be called Napster, Jason Statham as Handsome Rob the getaway driver, Marky Mark Whalberg as the team leader, and Mos Def as Half Ear the demolition expert.

One of the cool things about the movie was the cool car chases, which for the most part are done with the Mini Cooper. That is one cool car I must say. I seriously doubt that they can go as fast and handle as well as the ones in the movie. The other little gem is Napsters tricks which include being able to hack in to the LA traffic site so as to be able to control the traffic lights in the city. I just love the idea that they can control something like that. If you can hack in to that, you can do anything.

This movie is the essence of eye candy. From the beautiful people, to the explosions, to the car chases this movie is there to please your eyes and really not much more. The character development is nil, and the emotions it is trying to emote are nothing more than pure glee, but that is all I wanted and I got it in gusto. Norton killed Donald Sutherland and I wanted him to get his coming, and by golly, I couldn't wait to find out how he got it.

The only detraction that I could truly find was with the overuse of the Napster joke. He claims that he was the one that invented napster, and the guy who we are told invented it, was his roommate at Northwestern and he stole it from him. So throughout the film he continually asks everyone to call him napster.

To end this review I shall just say GO SEE IT. Go there with your 64 oz. soda and 5 pounds of popcorn and just have loads of fun. But beware, Edward Norton sports a mustache throughout and it is quite slimey so...
