Hey folks, Harry here... This one sort of snuck up on me, but that makes me no less excited to be hosting the event. The screening is the Texas (and Southwest Premiere) of Ed Solomon's LEVITY, the film that was chosen to Open the Sundance Film Festival this year. I've known Ed Solomon, the director of LEVITY, for about 3 years now. He came to Austin for an AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL, and the next thing we know we're at the hotel bar chatting for hours about the essence of Hollywood that typecasts your talent and wants only for you to repeat your successes, but moreso. You see... Ed Solomon is considered in Hollywood as one of those geniuses of high concept quirky fun scripts. He and his writing partner debuted with the genius that was BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURES. Then Ed has gone though a series of projects that he's worked on from MEN IN BLACK to X-MEN to CHARLIE'S ANGELS... As if by habit, his typing often gives way to crazy success stories. But at the time I met Ed, he was really doing a lot of soul searching. He'd been making good money, but he wanted to do something that wasn't just flash and glamour. At the time he was extremely excited about a project he was working on with Clive Barker... He had a wild concept called AUTOMATONS he was working on, but then he just kinda disappeared, till he come up for air with LEVITY. A film that survived being chosen for the opening night film for SUNDANCE completely unscathed. Here's a review from that screening: CLICK HERE!!! Ain't It Cool News presents: The Regional premiere of LEVITY Director Ed Solomon live in person!
We have the next in a series of Ain't It Cool Regional premieres coming to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown on APril 6. The way these screenings work is that Harry makes the contact and lines up the film and talent, the Alamo donates the space, and 100% of the door proceeds benefit charity. None of this "portion of the proceeds" on this one, no administrative fees, nothing. 100% of the door goes to charity. So open up your pocketbook and shell for this extremely affordable event, and know that while you are indulging yourself in a great movie experience, you are also making the world a better place.

After 22 years in jail for murder, Manual (Billy Bob Thornton) returns to his old neighborhood. He is drawn into a community center with Pastor Evans (Morgan Freeman) where he meets Sofia (Kirsten Dunst), a wreck of a young girl. Manual wrestles with his past, pursuing a tenuous relationship with Adele (Holly Hunter), the older sister of his victim. When Adele's son gets caught in a cycle of violence, he sees his last opportunity for redemption.
