Hey folks, Harry here... Ok, if you're a fan of Peter Richardson (and how the hell could ya not be if you're familiar with him) then this'll get the corners of that mouth turned up... This sounds like it could be hilarious. The idea of Christian Slater... well, read and see...
Hi Harry. It you ain't heard about this, it might be of interest.
Christian Slater and Neve Campbell are heading for the cosmopolitan world of the Isle of Man (little island plonked in the middle of the Irish Sea between England and Ireland) to film Churchill: The Hollywood Years.
As the title suggests, it's an irreverent WWII spoof, budgeted at £5.5 million and from the pen of Peter Richardson (The Pope Must Die and The Comic Strip Presents, a 1980s UK cult TV hit).
Churchill is filming in Devon, England, for a few weeks before moving to the Isle of Man on April 21 for three weeks. Others lined up to star include Miranda Richardson, Anthony Sher (Hitler), Leslie Phillips, Harry Enfield and an 'ensemble British comedy cast'.
Not too much detail on 'plot', but Slater plays the hero, a US GI who just happens to share the same name as the cigar-chewing British leader, who takes it upon himself to rescue the world from the nasty Nazis. The lovely Neve, I'm told, is playing a young Princess Elizabeth.
For those who don't know, the Isle of Man has been used by 40-odd films over the last few years - to name a few - Waking Ned, the upcoming Christina Ricci flick, The Gathering, as well as The Lawless Heart, which is on limited release on your side of the Atlantic at the moment.
It was also used to film Thomas and the Magic Railroad, for which I pray God will forgive us.
If you use,
call me
Quacker.
