Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
I’ve always enjoyed INNERSPACE, the sadly-overlooked Joe Dante comedy that boasted some of the best visual effects of the ‘80s. I like the chemistry that Martin Short and Dennis Quaid had, and Robert Picardo was hilarious as The Cowboy. There’s definitely room for a new adventure featuring Jack Putter and Tuck Pendleton, and if ILM was able to update the incredible work they did on the original, this could be something special.
Of course, looking up the website of 96.5 WHTQ (which appears to be an Orlando-area classic rock station), there’s no verification that Short was on recently, or that he mentioned a possible sequel. Anyone else hear this? I’m going to send out feelers to Joe Dante and see if we can get him to comment. In the meantime, check out this rumor, and take it with a grain of salt...
Hi Guys,
96.5 WHTQ spoke to Martin Short about the 'Giminy Glick' movie and he mentioned there might be an "Innerspace" sequel on the way.
He said Joe Dante and himself had been talking about options for a sequel over the holidays, stating that "Dennis Quaid will be saved from having to go up my butt again though".
Can't wait to see what they come up with!
Not a lot of information, but still... intriguing.
"Moriarty" out.
