Hey folks, Harry here... It seems that Terry is moving past the developing stage with THE BROTHERS GRIMM and towards actual physical production. After a bit of checking, they are indeed out to casting on this one. As for Mr Anderson's assertion that two producers are trying to claim ownership on THE DEFECTIVE DETECTIVE - ahem. Children need to learn to play well together, or else there will be no playing at all. THE DEFECTIVE DETECTIVE is hands down one of the best scripts not in production, along with WALLY & PEPPER - actually another project that Gilliam would be fantastic for. Alas... here's Mr Anderson...
It was announced in the trades a few months ago that he was attached to THE BROTHERS GRIMM at MGM. And i have from a reliable source that they are casting. Word is that an actor from the last proj still wants to work with him and is in discussions as one of the leads for this project. Also, Gilliam has been trying to work with Charles Roven who produced 12 Monkeys for him (Roven is also prod Brothers Grimm). They seem to have a good relationship and Gilliam has been attached to several of Roven's projects, including GOOD OMENS, and The Defective Detectective (which from what i understand is stalled over rights issues--2 producers are claiming ownership to the project). GO is stalled in part to lack of funding (it's an expensive movie). Soooo, again, i believe terry's next proj will be Brothers Grimm or something else involved with producer Roven.

We don't want Terry to say, because he seems to have a grapple on the curse that is currently upon him. But that curse doesn't extend to the whole world does it? Well, if it does, maybe we shouldn't know. Maybe it is best for Gilliam to operate in a complete vacuum of worldly attention. Yeah, that's it. If you come across Terry Gilliam doing something, Keep it secret, Keep it safe! Here ya go...

O: What's Don Quixote's status? Have you despaired of it, or is it still a possibility?
TG: No, no, the timing is absolutely exquisite. Today, all the relevant parties have been meeting in Paris, to sort out how I get the rights back once and for all. This has been going on for a year and a half, and it's complex, and it's blah blah blah. But today, we're finally in meetings with all the parties. Everybody wants to get it off their hands and get it back to me, but it's just been complex. With any luck, I'll have it back in my grubby little hands shortly. [Laughs.]
O: Do you consider that your current project, or are you working on something else?
TG: There is something else I'm working on, but I refuse to talk about that right now, because every time I mention what I'm doing next, it somehow collapses. So I'm keeping it quiet.
