SUNDANCE: Headless Horseman on Ted Demme's A DECADE UNDER THE INFLUENCE and Oliver Stone's COMANDANTE!

Harry here, the last time I saw Ted Demme (on Political Incorrect) we hung out in the green room for quite some time and he was literally thrilled beyond words to be working on A DECADE UNDER THE INFLUENCE. Just a few days before his rude and untimely passing he was talking to me online about it, and here we have a way way waaaaay too brief mention of it. Folks, if you saw this at SUNDANCE, please report!

Hey Harry,

I was at Sundance for the first few days and I've got some reviews for you. I saw mostly documentary films and I'll talk about the most noteworthy ones. The first one is a film that I'm sure you are interested in.

I know you were a big fan of Ted Demme and I got to see "A Decade Under the Influence" which was his dream project. It was finished by the co-director after "Teddy" died. The film is a series of interviews of with famous directors about the decade of the 1970's. It focuses on the counter culture movement that started with "Easy Rider" and ended with "Star Wars". The film is very fascinating and it also gives the viewer a lot of good ideas the next time they go to the video store. The director had a t-shirt with a picture of Ted Demme when he introduced the film and after the end credits there is a very nice dedication to Ted by Francis Ford Coppola. The movie is really worth checking out.

One of the other films I saw was Oliver Stone's Commandante. The film is Oliver Stone having a conversation with Fidel Castro. It is not really an interview, just a conversation. They talk about everything from movies, to Castro's childhood and even about viagra at one point. Castro takes Stone into his movie theater and they start talking about classic movies. Castro mentions that he liked the movie Titanic. The movie is really interesting and it makes you like Castro. He comes off as a very down to earth person.
